Join us every weekend for a group ride led by The Bike Rack! See our full schedule and ride descriptions below. All group ride participants need to come prepared with a bike in good working condition, a helmet (mandatory), a water bottle or two, and a spare tube. For safety reasons, all rides are canceled in the event of rain or sub-freezing temperatures. Updates on our weekend rides can be found in our Group Ride Listserv.
Easy Road Ride
This ride is perfect for anyone new to group riding, returning to fitness, or those who are waiting to jump into an intermediate-paced ride. The Saturday ride heads north through Rock Creek Park for 25-30 miles at 13 -17 mph. This is a no-drop ride, so riders will never be left behind, but this is still a road ride and riders are expected to come prepared with a purpose-built road bike. Helmets mandatory. Every Saturday, 10 a.m. at Q St shop.
This mid-paced gravel ride will head out from our Brookland shop, swing by our Q St shop, and head to the Capital Crescent trail entrance in Georgetown. Meet us at any of those three spots and join us for a 25-35 mile round-trip excursion. We’ll midpoint at the Marsden Tract Campsite with a campfire and get you back to DC by 11 p.m. Riders are encouraged to bring their own meal and snacks to share with others. After all, eating is a big part of this ride. One Saturday a month. See Calendar above for details on the next Campfire Grind.
Intermediate/Advanced Road Ride
Sundays, 8:30 a.m., Q Street. This is our weekly, fast group road ride, and heads northwest out of DC towards the hills and rolling pastures of outer Montgomery County, Maryland. The intermediate group averages 40 miles at 17 to 18 mph. The advanced route is 40-60 miles at 18 to 20 mph average. This is a pure group road ride and we try to maintain and sustain the group throughout the course. For riders without previous group ride and paceline experience, please start instead with our Easy Ride on Saturday at 10:00 am. Helmets mandatory.
