The sun now sets around 5pm. Lights are a great way to become visible when night falls.
DC law states that front lights and a rear reflector is required while operating a bicycle in the city. Although a rear light is not required, we highly recommend having one to be visible from behind. It may not be common, but we have seen a fair share of rear endings.
Here are a few lights that we carry that will either help you be more visible or light your way on dark commutes home.
Giant Numen Minis are a great way to be seen. This 2 LED light is plenty bright to be seen in the city.
Planet Bike Blaze is a 1/2 watt front light with a blink and steady mode that will help you be seen in traffic.
Planet Bike Superflash (1/2 watt) and Superflash Turbo (1 watt) are very bright rear lights letting cars behind you know that you’re there.
Light and Motion Vis 180 is an extremely bright rear light.
Light and Motion Urban 180 and 300 (the numbers refer to lumens) will light your way all the way home. The lights also have a dim and dim blink for use in the city.
Light and Motion Stella 300 can be used as a commuter light or mounted on a helmet to become a great nighttime mountain bike light.
